Kwik Kopy Footscray enhances digital arsenal

Two years ago the Kwik Kopy branch began to aggressively upgrade its printing equipment. This was in a bid to offer fully digital solutions to its customers and in the words of its Peter Beaufoy, Kwik Kopy Footscray owner, to “stay ahead of the game.” It now boasts Canon digital technology in every part of the business where the company supplies a suitable solution.

“I’ve been buying technology over the past 12 months that will keep us at the forefront of the market,” says Beaufoy. “We’ve moved from just having a couple of black and white copiers, to having two digital black and white multifunction devices with a booklet-making capacity. Similarly, we’ve gone from producing colour work on the offset press, to sharing the load with a digital colour multifunction device.

The newest addition to Kwik Kopy’s digital arsenal, the W7200, is a 36-inch device that’s able to realise high-speed and high-quality output thanks to its Canon-developed one-inch print head. According to Canon, this large head disperses ink more quickly, ensuring fast turnaround for customers. It takes just two minutes to print an AO poster, for example.

Spearheading its colour work, the Canon imageRUNNER iR C3200 has already proven invaluable to the business. Allowing staff to print, scan and copy in full colour, quickly & cost-effectively, it can perform all of these tasks at the same speed as when it operates in black and white. Its value as a digital production tool is reinforced by its ability to create colour proofs either for the franchisee’s offset press, or for work that will be produced on the iR C3200 itself, quickly and accurately.

According to Beaufoy, the new devices have had a significant impact upon his business.
“Since installing the Canon devices, our margins are up substantially and we’ll get a return on them much faster than I could have hoped to expect. We’re seeing such terrific results that if we were working to a four-year cycle, we’d achieve our goals in three,” says Beaufoy.
