Laminating machines provider, Laminating System, has installed a Sign Master 1300 Workstation at Victoria-based Argent Signs.
Argent Signs is a signage design, fabrication and installation company that provides full-service signage solutions to Melbourne and beyond.
Lamination System sales manager Andrew Leis told Sprinter that Argent Signs was after an application table for wide format print finishing and selected the Sign Master 1300 Workstation after talking to Lamination System owner Matthew Wright at the recent Visual Impact tradeshow in Brisbane.
The Sign Master 1300 Workstation measures 1700mm in width by 3000mm in length and 900mm in height. It weighs 800kgs. The machine aims to provide fast and efficient mounting of prints and vinyls to substrates such as boards, glass, foam, and others that are commonly used in the sign industry.
Argent Signs director Mark Piper said he chose the Sign Master 1300 Workstation as its fabrication is sound and because it could get a machine of high-standard through the company’s standard-sized doorway.
“It’s a very stable unit that lets us get a nice, high-quality laminate onto an array of different substrates. It is the best fit for our print finishing solutions. The other plus is that we managed to get it into our premises – we have a very large building, but a very small entranceway,” Piper said.
Lamination System came up with a plan for install where the machine bed could be rotated onto its side and wheeled through a standard doorway.
“We facilitated getting it through a standard doorway – which is tight for a machine of that size,” Leis said.
“It’s a bit unusual to have such a large unit go through a small doorway, but we managed to do it. We did it by adapting a lifter to turn the unit on its side, then wheeled it through the doorway.
“We started working on this custom-made lifter back in March this year as a few clients started asking about access through tight doorways. We perfected it before Visual Impact, so that we could offer it as an installation option at the show.”
The custom-made lifter handles a maximum weight of 1500kgs.
Since the install, Piper said the Sign Master 1300 Workstation has allowed Argent Signs to improve its quality control and the speed with which it is able to complete jobs.
“The install at Argent Signs shows we are a progressive company that has the ability to adapt to our clients’ needs,” Leis added.
