Rare and antique sign collection to go on auction

A selection of rare and antique signs will be going on auction later this month, enabling people who have a love of signs and a passion for collecting rare and interesting pieces with an opportunity to add on to their collection.

Mick George from MG Signs, Steve Wattam who was with SWS, and John Hadfield of Hadfield Sign Co. have joined forces for the auction, bringing to market a huge range of fascinating and historic signs for the first time in many years.

Another example of a sign that will be auctioned off at the end of this month

Such collections are usually housed on walls, in factories, and in garages around the country, rarely come up for sale. But now, thanks to these three well-known, long-term industry stalwarts, the collectables will be available later this month.

The range and types of signs include beer and pub signs made of glass work and acrylic panels, every day and obscure advertising signs, retail and point of sale jobs in metal, cards and posters, petrol signs from Ampol, Shell and others, as well as signs featuring international and iconic brands.

All of the signs are now on display at The Garage Collection Auctioneers at Tuggerah, NSW Central Coast and have been catalogued online for the auction.

The auction will commence at 9:30am on 25 August.

Those interested can see the collection at the auctioneers’ premises, or online by clicking this link.

Registrations can be made in advance via the same link.

Pre-bidding is already open online, with live on-site or online bidding available during the auction.

More information on individual pieces can be obtained by contacting the auctioneers.
