Landa reaps $680m in drupa orders

Benny Landa reports he has generated a whopping $687m (€450m) in orders for his Nanographic printing presses since drupa wrapped up last week.

According to Landa, 200,000 people inundated its stand, watching its 20 daily live press demos.

At least three Australian companies have already snapped up a pre-order of the Komori NS40 Impremia B1 sheetfed Landa-driven nano press, with Blue Star, Hero Print, and one other placing an order.

Commenting on his drupa haul, chairman Benny Landa says, “drupa 2016 will be remembered as the inflection point in the industry’s transition from mechanical printing to digital. In the past digital printing vendors had to try to convince the market that digital is the way to go. Previously it was a push selling motion.

“Now for the first time, the situation has reversed. There is a very strong pull from the market, driven by both customers and brand-owners, who are now demanding digital printing.

“It seems that the market leaders in packaging, commercial printing and in publishing have come to the realisation that they simply must go digital.”

Landa attributes the thrust towards digital at this year’s trade show to the company’s successful post-drupa performance.

Despite the rush of orders, the Impremia NS40s are unlikely to arrive before 2018 at the earliest, with Landa and his 500 scientists still working away to recreate the offset quality images outside of his Israeli laboratory.

The first beta test machines are scheduled to be installed next year.
