Latest product enhancements from Kodak Polychrome Graphics mean there’s no match for Matchprin

Prompted by the industry-wide move towards standardisation and feedback from customers, KPG have added a new profile to the Matchprint Color rip. This profile was created to simulate the press using ISO12647-2 data, therefore giving the closest match yet between proof and press.

Craig Robertson, Kodak Polychrome Graphics UK, proofing product manager, says, “The profile means customer’s are provided with proofs that accurately predict the press results, so fulfilling customer’s expectations. Everyone involved in the entire printing process can speak the same language and work towards achieving colour solidarity and consistency.

“Our colour technology division is dedicated to one thing above everything else and that’s achieving high colour proofing accuracy. We are constantly assessing the needs in the market place so we can develop products to help customers achieve a perfect colour match between proofer and press.”

The Gretag Eye One spectrophotometer enables the customer to check and correct their printer output so ensuring the consistency of proofs produced. It gives printers the control to regularly modify and re-set their own printing equipment, in order to gain the most exact results.

Robertson says, “It is ideal for any company where colour accuracy is paramount, including reprographic houses, ad agencies and graphic designers. The easy-to-use hand held tool ensures consistent, predictable colour for every step of the print production process and increases colour output for the printer by resetting and achieving the same colour settings every time.”

Matchprint Inkjet colour proofing package RIPs the digital data before printing and is capable of printing up to B1 size. The software is calibrated to the press and provides accurate proofs, emulating both the colour and the position of the final print as closely as possible.

The Matchprint Inkjet proofing system from Kodak Polychrome Graphics comprises a Matchprint Color rip, profiles and Matchprint media. Matchprint Inkjet provides advanced functionality and colour control on 18 different printers from Canon, HP and Epson.

The Kodak Polychrome Graphics Matchprint Colour Inkjet system combines the Kodak Polychrome Graphics Color Fidelity Module (CFM) with a Best RIP. The graphic arts properties of the RIP give the capability to show traps and overprints, which enables the identification of colour and design errors early in the production cycle. Within the Kodak Polychrome Graphics CFM are built in Matchprint ICC profiles, which ensure consistent colour match to a benchmark standard.
