LEP apprentice sprints ahead

An LEP Colour Printers apprentice has set a cracking pace for her Future Print peers, completing her first block of competencies and benchmarking in just eight months. Kirstin Robinson began working as a print finisher at the trade outfit’s Queensland site in April and quickly got up to speed in product handling, setting up the machines, operating, and monitoring them for peak performance and miscues. John Bromfield, CEO at LEP, says Kirstin has quickly become a key member of the company’s staff, and is well liked by her colleagues on the floor.

He says, “Kirstin has grasped this opportunity to learn important new skills during her apprenticeship, and we are pleased that she is doing so well. “We are looking forward to helping her develop even more skills over the next year. We are right behind her all the way in her studies.” John Scott, advisor to the Future Print programme in Brisbane, says Robinson is the first apprentice to trial the competency form which allows the business and apprentice to have a conversation and confirm their progression – a key part of the Future Print model. Scott says, “Kirstin is impressive. She interviewed exceptionally well when she applied. “She is mature in her attitude, and she is committed to her apprenticeship and what the business has offered her in the apprenticeship. “I have nothing but praise for what she has done through her Tafe work and all her efforts at LEP Colour Printers.” Robinson has now reached level two of her apprenticeship. She says, “I am excited that I have achieved this level so quickly, and to be a productive member of the LEP Colour Printers team. “I really enjoy working here with my colleagues, and I am looking forward to starting the next part of my apprenticeship.”
