Attendees will be asked to leave “mobile phones and cameras” in the car as they get access to the dangerous goods and raw material storage zones as well as the lab, quality control and ink manufacturing areas.
DIC produces a wide variety of inks including heatset, coldest, solvent flexo and solvent-based gravure at its Sydney plant in the suburb of Auburn.
LIA NSW president David Wells (pictured) is encouraging attendees to bring along junior members of their business, such as apprentices, cadets or trainees, free of charge to see one of Australia’s last ink manufacturing operations.
“Current numbers are looking good, however, we are certainly looking for more of the trainees, cadets or even offsiders to attend as we think it’s a great opportunity for them,” he said.
The tour, held 26 November, will be followed by a three-course Chinese banquet at the neighbouring Auburn Tennis and Recreation Centre.
All bookings at $40 for LIA members or $45 for non-members can only be made by email to Graeme Smith.
