
The association will look at the future of the proofing and asking whether new soft proofing technologies can be adapted into the Australian print room.
Serendipity Software chief executive Peter Skarpetis will be demonstrating the vendor’s Veripress application, which was developed in Sydney.
Skarpetis said the software has seen success overseas and it is only a matter of time until soft proofing takes off in Australia.
LIA committee member Luke Wooldridge told ProPrint that despite the benefits of soft proofing, many local printers have not embraced it.
“People feel safer with a hard copy proof,” he said.
“Soft proofing can be just as reliable, and has many cost and time benefits as well. The big thing we are trying to do is get people’s heads around it.”
Tickets for the evening cost $50 for member and $60 for non-members, including dinner and drinks.
