Lüscher celebrates CTP success

French company Groupe ACTIS ordered two units, representing the 499th and 500th sold. The Group’s industrial director, Alexander Buzdugan received a commemorative certificate from the Ambassador, Dr Baumann.

To commemorate the delivery, Hans Lüscher proprietor of Lscher presented Buzdugan with a painting by Enzo Pituello, the founder of the acclaimed ‘spatial art’ movement.

Lüscher’s stand drew plenty of attention at drupa, with its innovative high speed CTP systems and a new flatbed inkjet printer for rigid substrates.

The family of XPose! thermal platesetters for commercial offset printing for four, eight, 16 and 32 pages was extended by the new Xpose 190, a 32 page platesetter for plate sizes up to 150x210cm. The platesetter can be used manually or fully automatic and the two largest models, XPose! 180 and 190 can expose two 8-up plates simultaneously with what Lüscher claims as a world record 43 plates per hour.

For security printing applications, Lüscher showed at drupa the eight-up platesetter XPose! 130, which has been developed to the resolution required for bank bills, security printing and identity cards in credit card size. The device produces a resolution of up to 5080 dpi and a repeatability of 0.05 microns.

In flexo, Lüscher showed for the first time products resulting from its acquisition of British company ZED Instruments, which specialised in laser ablation systems for flexo. The Lüscher Flexpose! Direct engraves flexo cylinders directly with an ablation process.

But it was in digital printing that the biggest surprise came from Lüscher, with the JetPrint 3530 UV which prints water based UV inks up to a printing size of 350x305cm on rigid substrates, printing on PVC, polycarbonate, corrugated, foamed plates, aluminium, acryl, polyester, wood, glass, ceramic, stainless steel and marble.
