Lüscher UV CTP to save $000s in prepress

According to Huwyler, Lüscher has a solid base of 22 CTP units installed in Australia as well as one in New Zealand and is keen to build on this base, especially with the launch of its UV laser technology.

Research at Lüscher in 2005-6 resulted in the launch of its line of CTP platesetters powered by a UV laser powerful enough to image conventional offset plates. “This technology should be of particular interest to high plate volume printers in Australia,” says Huwyler.

According to Lüscher calculations, based on a customer with a consumption of 50,000sq m of plates a year, and a price differential between thermally imaged and conventional (UV) imaged plates of up to $4 per sq m, the installation of Lüscher’s UV CTP could save such a customer $200,000 a year in plate cost.
