Cathy Hodge, print centre manager said with production hitting 150,000 black and white impressions per month on a wide range of printed materials, including training manuals, business cards and local in-store marketing resources, they were in need of a new monochrome system that could keep up with its high demand.
Hodge says, “Even though we had already decided to go with another vendor, we went along to a demonstration at the Ricoh Printing Innovation Centre. With the Ricoh solution we’re able to produce perfect-bound reports and manuals of up to 400 pages.”
According to Hodge, with training manuals being one of the Print Centre’s major jobs, the print centre has been able to cut days off production time simply by being able to produce them internally.
She says, “Actually, even with the solution we were going to implement prior to deciding on Ricoh, having perfect-binding capabilities would have meant bringing in a separate dedicated machine that would have taken up an enormous amount of space. With the Ricoh solution, it’s all inline and has minimum space impact.”
Ricoh outlines that another benefit of the new Ricoh system is significant cost savings due to the Print Centre’s new ability to charge back costs to individual business units through usage reports. Based on the information provided by the new business unit usage reports, several large print jobs are now being sent by email, saving the company over $35,000 a year.
