Mike Boyle new HP regional boss

Mike Boyle, former senior general manager of Canon Professional Print Australia is the new head of HP GSB (graphics services business) in the Asia Pacific and Japan.

Boyle replaces Gido van Praag who leaves the role after five years to become vice president of GSB Europe, Middle East and Africa, HP’s biggest region for its commercial print business.

Van Praag says Boyle is an excellent choice for HP and for the market. "His experience, knowledge and drive fit perfectly with HP and the requirements of the dynamic market in the region,” he says.

The change comes as HP commences a major push into packaging, on the back of a 70 per cent market share for its digital brand Indigo, which has also seen recent sales growth in the region.

The manufacturer now supplies digital flexo and corrugated printers, and by next year expects to see the fruit of its collaboration with KBA.

Van Praag says Indigo, which is supplied in Australia by Currie Group, now sells as many units in the Asia Pacific and Japan region as it does in Europe.

The news of change at the top comes on the eve of HP’s annual Awards of Excellence, which will see the region’s top HP printers pitted against each other
