With books from major publishing houses such as Thames & Hudson, Penguin, Random House, Harper Collins and Hachette et al, this is the first time both awards have been won by the same company and the first time the Book of the Year has been won by an Australian outfit.
Momento printed the books using the Indigo 7500, which was installed last November by the Currie Group, and printed on the Holmberg Flex-bind paper.
Geoff Hunt, managing director, Momento told Australian Printer, “We are thrilled because it is the first time we entered the Galley Club Awards and we were up against some great competition.”
Hunt says, “Since we upgraded to the Indigo 7500 from the Indigo 550 we have even better print quality with the benefit of even faster speeds.
It was also the first time ever a digitally printed book won the highest prize. Hunt says, “The two books in the awards were Postcards from Home by Sam Harris, and Surf Nation by Kent Mathews. Both are published on-demand in various formats.”
The Currie Group is the distributor of the HP Indigo range in Australia and New Zealand.
