New additions to Mako CTP

Just launched, both the Mako System4 and the Mako Sytem4x are expected to build on the success of the Mako range, which has been installed at commercial print and publishing sites around the world.

The Mako System4 is designed for demanding, quality conscious two and four page printers with an extremely tight budget.

ECRM vice president EMEA and APAC, Derek Sizer says the unit allows users to purchase a two page CTP today with the option of upgrading to four page capability at a later date.

“It offers a clear upgrade path for printers who currently run smaller plates but anticipate expanding their pressroom to include four page capability,” says Sizer.

“The System4 conversion path enables users to enjoy the ongoing cost benefits of ECRM technology with the option of increasing their capacity only when the need arises. The upgrade can be easily accomplished on site by an ECRM trained service technician at minimal cost.”

The System4 offers the same proven output characteristics of the MAKO CTP family with the flexibility to deliver high quality images for formats of up to 615 mm x 745 mm. It ensures exact accuracy at all times, with an imaging speed of 20 plates per hour at 2400 dpi.

“With the introduction of this new product and the System4x, we feel that we have the most comprehensive violet CTP range on the market,” says Sizer.

The System4x is one of the first violet CTP devices in the world that offers customers a clear path for moving to violet processless technology, when it becomes available. As a next generation product, the System4x represents the highest quality imaging output that ECRM has ever offered.

“The MAKO System4x is capable of imaging traditional photopolymer and silver halide violet plates as well as being ready for the new violet processless technology when it comes on to the market,” Sizer explains.

The MAKO System4x utilises ECRM’s latest technological breakthroughs, including next generation, patented optical technology that delivers high quality imaging. The System4x also employs an auto-pinch/auto-image feature for true hands-free operation after initial plate positioning.

The MAKO System4x CTP is capable of imaging over 20 plates per hour at 2400 dpi, with a maximum plate size extended to 660 mm x 960 mm in order to include larger press formats such as the Speedmaster CD 74.

The System4x is bundled with CtServer Pro, ECRM’s enhanced 1 bit tiff server, as well as a three year parts warranty.
