New PVCA president encourages businesses to nominate for PICAs

The new Print & Visual Communications Association (PVCA) president Peter Clark is calling out for businesses to enter in the 2022 Printing Industry Creativity Awards (PICAs), saying it’s a perfect time for businesses to encourage their staff and boost their standing by showcasing their best work.

This year’s competition comes hot on the heels of the 2021 State and National Print Awards (NPA) presentations which were delayed due to COVID.

Now, however, Clark says the calendar is ‘back on track’ and it’s time for print service providers to select and enter their best work.

“Not only is the quality of work printed in Australia demonstrably as good – if not better – than that produced anywhere else in the world, we have some of the most impressive people and businesses you will find in any part of the globe,” Clark said.

The 32 categories in this year’s awards include print categories for everything from various print applications, to design and effectiveness, as well as special awards recognising the efforts and achievements of our industry’s businesses and people.

Entries and nominations will be evaluated by a panel of expert judges in each state, with those which achieve an ultimate award at the PICAs afforded the opportunity to vie for national honours at the NPA.

Luke Wooldridge, long-time awards judge, will return to chair the 2022 judging, with Clark saying anyone interested in joining a panel would be welcome to express their interest.

“Most importantly, though, I’d encourage all businesses involved in print to cast their mind over the work they’ve done in the past 12 months, the businesses they deal with and the people they admire, and start preparing their entries and nominations now,” Clark said, confirming that state awards are set to be presented in April and May, while the 39th National Print Awards presentation is planned for Melbourne during PacPrint.

Entries to the PICA competition are due to close at 5pm on Friday 28 February 2022.
