New thermal technology sees the Sun

Originally developed in Japan by Kiwa Chemical Industries, a company associated with Sun Graphic, Kiwajet is a system of producing high-end graphics with vibrant photo picture-quality onto a highly durable range of patented media.

The system is for use with a range of compatible inkjet printers and the media comes with a five-year UV stability guarantee. It has anti-fouling qualities and requires no lamination.

Sun Graphic Industries Ltd founding director Simon Turner, says it is the only process of its kind and works through a specially formulated dispersion dye, which prints the image through a compatible printer onto a low cost transfer paper. The transfer paper and Kiwajet media is then placed within a pre heated Heat Vacuum machine that forces the migration of the image into the media. He says the media has an outer layer of fluoride, under which the image is encapsulated, which gives it its unmatched durability and anti- fouling properties. This system is also achieving fantastic print results directly onto stainless steel and aluminium sheets.

Sun Graphic is selling the Kiwajet system in New Zealand within a package that includes the Mimaki JV4 printer and Vacupress machine.

While it has only been released onto the Australasian market a few months, Turner says several systems have already been purchased and it has been extremely well received by a critical industry cautiously looking for the next quality innovation. “This system is giving our clients the opportunity to produce very high end quality output at a very low entry cost, and in many cases utilising existing plant”.

Look out for the Kiwajet display at the upcoming Sydney Visual Impact expo.
