News to launch classified free lift-out

Advertisers can reach 949,000 potential buyers through the Saturday Daily Telegraph’s Weekend Shopper. The ad is free if they are selling something for under $300, and items over $300 can be advertised for just $15 for five lines.

Nationwide News managing director Peter Wylie says The Daily Telegraph, along with News Limited’s other newspapers, had experienced very strong classified print volume growth over the past year, particularly in employment, real estate and motor vehicles.

“We know that classifieds are as much a part of people’s lifestyles as any part of the newspaper and Saturday is when more people have time to browse. The buyers are attracted because the sellers are there and vice versa,” said Mr Wylie.

Weekend Shopper has been an integral part of The Courier-Mail newspaper in Queensland for many years, and readers report 43 per cent of items are sold in the first day and almost three quarters of items are sold within the week.
