Growth for print predicted

The Australian Industry Group has released survey results pointing to the chemicals and petroleum industries being the strongest areas of growth at eight per cent, followed by the paper, printing and publishing sectors, which are anticipating growth of 7.3 per cent.

The food industry, expects to bounce back from slow growth figures of only 2.5 per cent in 2004 with an anticipated jump of 6.7 per cent this year.

The weakest industries are textiles, with only 0.3 per cent growth, and motor vehicles with a sales growth of 2.3 per cent.

The survey is based on returns from 715 companies with a combined turnover in excess of $50bn. Interestingly, the increasing share of the domestic market was expected to be the main driver of growth for just over half the firms in the survey.
