Next sweeps board at HP Awards

Next Printing swept to top spot in the HP Sign & Display Awards for Asia Pacific and Japan, winning four of the seven awards, and taking out the overall Grand Award.

Supastik Labels also took out one of the two Grand Winner titles in the HP Indigo section, the WA label printer winning in the Wine & Spirits label section. Other winners on the night from Australia included Melbourne’s Nulab, which took the Limited Edition and Art Reproduction title, Labelmakers for Pharmeceutical & Neutraceutical labels, and Bokay from WA for the Vehicle Wrap. In the Sign & Display section Next took out the Creative Award, the Corrugated Packaging Award, the Retail POS/POP award and the Green Award. Speaking to Australian Printer in Singapore Romeo Sanuri, Next general manager paid tribute to the company’s industrial design manager Nobuto Nishizawa, he says, “Putting ink on board is the easy part, taking a client’s concept and creating a three dimensional solution is what really sets next apart, and since we took on Nobuto two years ago we have really been able to step into this space.”

The Aussie businesses were competing against printers from the entire region, from Iran through India and China to Japan and Korea and down through South East Asia to New Zealand for the awards, making the Next achievement even more remarkable. Speaking at the event Phillip Rennell, sales director at Currie – which supplies HP Indigo – says, “Australian print businesses are at the forefront of the digital world, and the results from these regional awards show how advanced they are.”
