Oce says the CS9060 offers outdoor printing with the reported ease of use of an aqueous printer. It has been specifically designed to make the transition for printers easier by reducing the usual lead time from installation to profitable output.
The new printer will make its debut at the Visual Impact Image Expo in Sydney which opens on Wednesday, where the company says it will attract considerable interest from visitors.
Océ's product manager for Design Graphics, Adrian Morris, says the new printer will prove valuable in print-for-pay operations, enabling them to "hit the ground running" and immediately offer high quality indoor and outdoor wide format product.
Morris says, "The Océ CS9060 is ideal for short run print jobs and is designed for light production environments where high quality output and outdoor durability are required.
"It will be ideal for printing operations seeking an output of around 2,000 sq. metres per year. "Sample applications include banners, signs, exhibition graphics, point-of-purchase displays, vehicle graphics, transit advertising, window displays and general purpose retail, he says"
The wide format machine uses Océ CS9000 VariaDot imaging technology enabling the print head to produce dots of variable size. Compared to competitive equipment using traditional fixed dot sizes, the print quality and ink economy are far superior on the Océ CS9060.
Additionally, the Océ CS9060 overcomes the frequent output problem of 'banding', experienced by many wide format printers by using advanced Wave Stitching technology.
Wave Stitching lays the print in waves instead of straight bands, resulting in higher print quality, improved productivity and increased media versatility. Wave Stitching enables the Océ CS9060 to produce prints with consistent quality in production print modes, even when more demanding media are used, virtually eliminating the banding problem.
Adrian Morris says that the Océ CS9060 continues Océ's world-acclaimed green policies, he says, "Eco-solvent inks offer customers the superb outdoor benefits of solvent inks. At the same time they can use the printer in a regular office or small print shop environment without the need for an air purification system and avoiding additional costs. Maintenance for this machine utilising the Eco solvent inks is only required once a week."
Economical uncoated media can be used for indoor and short- to mid-term outdoor applications. The eco-solvent inks used in the Océ CS9060 offer an outdoor durability of up to three years, without lamination.
To help printers easily adjust to outdoor, the Océ CS9060 comes with predefined Easy Outdoor software, user manual and media guide. This has been designed to simplify the operating modes of the printer.
Morris says, "Even those with no experience of wide format printers will find it easy to make the transition through use of the pre-set software combined with Océ's traditional green button approach.
