Online Print Solutions & Prism announce global agreement

The agreement will enable Prism to supply CardXpress, a template-driven PDF-based online ordering product as an add-on module of the company’s eService Desk. Online Print Solutions’ managing director Mark McGowan says the relationship with Prism is an example of how highly respected the product is.

“Prism is obviously one of the largest and most advanced MIS vendors worldwide, therefore we are very pleased with their vote of confidence in our technology,” says McGowan. He also comments, “bringing the most advanced eCommerce solutions to the commercial printing industry is our key goal, and our relationship with Prism will only enhance our ability to do that.”

“This agreement will significantly enhance the already strong feature set of the eService Desk product” says Michael Cheyne, Prism CEO. “Prism is always looking for best-of-breed technology that can add value to our clients and we feel this partnership will certainly deliver on that goal.”

CardXpress, formerly PrintManager, allows clients to log in and choose the item they wish to edit (eg business cards, stationery, marketing material etc), select a template and input their details into the HTML page before viewing either a JPG or PDF proof.

When a client has placed an order, an email is sent notifying the printer of the order. In the administration area, users can view all orders waiting to be printed. By ticking the orders they wish to impose, CardXpress will present the user with its proposed layout based upon each orders quantity. The layout can be accepted or re-arranged. CardXpress will then produce a print-ready PDF imposition file.

A key benefit of CardXpress is that templates are created in their native application. Pre-press operators simply make alterations to their original artwork in Quark, InDesign, and Illustrator etc and create a PDF. CardXpress extracts all the relevant information such as font name, font size, colours, which fields are relative to each other and vertical/horizontal alignment of text. Production rules can also be applied such as bleed, trim marks & double cut. Once uploaded additional business rules can be applied such as wrapping, adjusting character spacing and scaling text to fit a specified width.

Online Print Solutions has almost 50 clients throughout Australia and the US, whose thousands of corporate clients process tens of thousands of orders every month through their products. With in excess of 300 sites and 5000 users around the globe, Prism is one of the world’s largest MIS software vendors to the printing industry.
