OOH soars in July

The Out of Home (OOH) industry has logged a net revenue of $57.2m for the month of July, representing a 14.1 per cent boost compared to July last year.

The industry’s year-to-date revenue has jumped by 18 per cent with $418.5m up from $354.7m for the same time last year.

These figures show OOH is on track to trump last year’s stellar results, the industry farewelled 2015 with a record revenue of $677.8m, soaring past the $579.3m it generated in 2014.

The Outdoor Media Association (OMA) reports that digital now accounts for 37.8 per cent of total revenue year to date, which is up from 24.5 per cent for the same period last year. However, classic print still provides the other 62.2 per cent.

Category figures for July 2016 show roadside billboards are still the most lucrative form of outdoor advertising, generating $21.8m.

Roadside Other followed closely behind, logging $17.1m and transport and retail categories generating $9.5m and $8.8m respectively.

Out of home giant oOh!media has just paid $6.1m for one of the country’s biggest outdoor printers Cactus Imaging to enable all its print to be completed inhouse. Its CEO Brendon Cook says that despite the supersonic growth of outdoor digital the static (print) outdoor is also still growing.
