PacPrint set to open doors tomorrow

More than 200 exhibitors have been busy since last week preparing their stands and show equipment, for the nation’s printers to pore over the latest technological developments, many of which will be seen for the first time in Australia.

The show will be opened by The Hon Martin Pakula, Victorian Minister for Trade and Industry and Minister for Industrial Relations, who will cut the ribbon at 10am on Tuesday. The doors then remain open every day from 10am to 6pm, and on Saturday 10am to 4pm.

Printers are expected from every state, there will also be a sizeable contingent from New Zealand, and a few from further afield. The last PacPrint in 2005 recorded more than 24,000 visits, with organisers hoping a similar number will walk through the doors of the Melbourne Exhibition Centre this time around, although no-one will be surprised is numbers are lower, given the current state of the economy and the reduction in numbers of print companies since last time.

The five day event is organised by the industry suppliers association GAMAA and Printing Industries. Both groups believe the show will prove a fillip for the industry at a time when many printers are under pressure, as it will enable printers to gain a clear understanding of new technologies and new opportunities.

Visitors to the show can expect to see the themes of digital workflow, web-to-print, offset efficiency, automation, end to end solutions and environmental printing emerge strongly. With more than 200 exhibitors covering every aspect of the industry. Special activities include the PacPrint Forums and the Women In Print Breakfast, to which there are still a few tickets left.

Printer Magazines Group, publisher of i-grafix.com, Australian Printer, New Zealand Printer and Asia Pacific Packaging will be at the show in numbers. Call onto our stand, number B18, for a chat anytime.
