PIAA to host estimating and planning course in October

Ian Walz, national manager, learning and development at Printing Industries says industry feedback had demonstrated the need for an advanced course which could help existing estimating staff to brush up on their skills and help others to ensure their existing experience was fine tuned to changing industry conditions.

He says, “In many cases sales people, print production co-ordinators, schedulers and accounts staff are involved in estimating, depending on the business size, and need to have a detailed understanding of the estimating process.”

Walz continues that business profitability and production flow can suffer if good systems are not in place and regularly fine tuned, particularly if staffing changes have occurred.

He says, “The advanced module, which runs over three days, is geared to cover the process end-to-end to ensure knowledge issues including materials ordering, machine optimisation, client communication, complex quotes, material awareness and their effect on the final printed product and the effective use of MIS systems are covered.”

According to Printing Industries many company owners as well as managers and supervisions would benefit from the course.

The introductory module will be held on October 21, while the three-day advanced module will run over October 28 and November 11 and November 25. All courses will be staged at Printing Industries Auburn office.
