Pitt picked for SA Graduate of the Year

Jonathan Pitt of Multi Color Australia has won the SA LIA Graduate of the Year award, with the company also taking the employer’s award.

Pitt will now go on to compete at the National Graduate of the Year awards, and be flown out to Sydney to be interviewed by a panel of judges.

The awards were handed out at the Fuji Xerox showroom in Adelaide, with LIA state president Gordan Wilson leading the proceedings.

Previous successful graduates Jason Turai, Chloe Rudd, and Rebecca Wright, who won the award in 2016, 2017, and 2018 respectively, introduced the nominated apprentices. The former winners, along with Wilson, made up the judging panel.

Wilson explains, “We always try to get the previous graduates involved in the LIA and interview process. It is a good experience for them to see what happens on our side of the table.”

The nominees consisted of: Aaron Baird, Multi Color Australia; Jamie Hanson, CCL Clear Image; Steven Perry, Wing Flexible Packaging; Randolf Capati, Orora Closures; Brett Devlin, Label Partners; and the winner, Jonathan Pitt, Multi Color Australia.

Australian Printer caught up with Pitt, who says, “I work on a water-based flexo machine primarily, and I am getting trained in UV at the moment.

“I was pretty shocked, I did not expect to win, it was quite flukey. I just did not think I was that great, but it was all a bit of fun.”
