Plain sailing for Konica Minolta

Ingvall has joined Konica Minolta’s crew while his new maxi is being built for this year’s 60th anniversary Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

A 98ft speed machine, Konica Minolta (formerly named Zana), finished second in last year’s Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, a mere 14 minutes behind Grant Wharington’s Skandia and recently smashed the Auckland to Noumea Race record by more than 40 hours.

Konica Minolta will be looking to even the score against Skandia in this year’s Rolex Sydney Hobart and the Ingles Sydney Gold Coast race will be a closely watched pre-cursor.

The 384 nautical mile Ingles Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race attracts a distinguished fleet of 60-70 yachts every year, with entries predominantly from NSW and Queensland, but also from Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and New Zealand.

The race began over the weekend. To track the progress of Konica Minolta in this year’s race to Southport in Queensland, please visit the race Web site: .
