PMG welcomes Colleen Bate and Piotr Wnuk to the team

The Printer Media Group (PMG) has become the world’s most experienced publishing company for the printing and packaging industry with the addition of two new editors – Colleen Bate and Piotr Wnuk.

Bate joins the company as editor of bi-monthly printing industry magazine, ProPrint, replacing outgoing editor Sheree Young and will also work across Sprinter and the ProPrint Awards – the fastest growing event in the printing and packaging industry that has doubled in size from 2020 to 2021 and again from 2021 to 2022.

Bate started her career in South Africa as a journalist in the mining industry when the Apple Mac was making its debut in the early 1990s. Merging this new and innovative technology with her writing skills led to a three-year stint as editor of a desktop publishing journal.

Since then, she has edited a range of titles across the printing, graphic design, digital reproduction and photography, wide format, and packaging industries in New Zealand and Australia. Serendipitously, her new role sees her career come full circle – at the start of the millennium she worked on New Zealand Printer magazine, which is now owned by PMG.

As for Wnuk, he has taken on the newly created role of news editor and will be producing content across New Zealand Printer, Sprinter and ProPack.pro.

Wnuk has nearly 20 years of experience in journalism. He started his career in a local newspaper in Poland as a junior reporter. Since then, he has been a reporter, journalist and managing editor in Europe and the Middle East before moving permanently to New Zealand last year.

Most recently, he was deputy editor for the Labels & Labeling magazine, where based out of the UK office, he was reporting on the European and global labelling and packaging industry. He is passionate about sustainability and digital content management, but most of all, he is focused on accurate news delivery, finding exciting angles in stories and engaging with readers to continue the conversation via social media channels.

Both Bate and Wnuk said they look forward to supporting PMG’s existing team consisting of managing director James Wells, national sales manager Carmen Ciappara, New Zealand national sales manager and publisher Brian Moore, editor Hafizah Osman, New Zealand Printer editor Bruce Craig as well as design and production manager Sarah Vella.

“The appointment of Colleen and Piotr to the Printer Media Group to start 2023 will make the trans-Tasman team the most experienced printing and packaging publishing team that is unrivalled anywhere in the world with over 100 years of commercial printing and packaging publishing experience,” Wells said.

“We look forward to continuing over 100 years of printing the best trade magazines in this region with some of the oldest business to business mastheads.”
