Polar sharp with Aussie drupa demand

The installations have taken place at mid-sized Victorian printer Pyrenees Press (Polar 115 X), Melbourne mid-sized printer GRV Printers (Polar 92 X) and Adelaide printer Supreme Printers (Polar 78 XS). The range of Polar cutters provides a cutting size from 78 cm to 176 cm.

Victorian printer Pyrenees Press has praised the benefits of reduced costs and faster turnaround that its new guillotine has provided. The new model Polar 115 X has replaced earlier technology that was subject to frequent breakdowns often necessitating outsourcing.

Glyn Castanelli, Pyrenees Press sales and marketing director, says, “We were previously not able to take on more work because we could not deliver to shortened delivery times; the postpress component of the job was too slow.”

Castanelli says that in the six weeks since the Polar 115 X installation Pyrenees Press has increased turnover by 20 per cent and reduced costs significantly by ceasing outsourcing.

The installation of a Polar 92 X guillotine at Melbourne printer GRV Print has resulted in significant improvements in efficiency in post-press stage after only a few weeks.

Neil Patterson, GRV Print director, says, “Prior to the installation of the Polar 92 X guillotine, we were using earlier generation technology and finding that operator hours were at capacity. As a result, we were having difficulty taking on new business.”

Patterson says that the ability of the Polar 92 X to store a large number of programmes enables efficient runs of repeat or similar jobs and has been a vital element in reducing operator hours.

Accuracy and space were the main considerations for the installation of a Polar 78 XS guillotine at Adelaide-based Supreme Printers.

Stuart Braund, Supreme Printers managing director, says, “Following an upgrade of several pieces of equipment in our plant, we found we had reduced space for the guillotine. We chose the Polar 78 XS because it is very accurate and delivers a smaller footprint than earlier technology as well being user friendly.

“Prior to the installation of the Polar 78 XS blade change was a time consuming and cumbersome process taking up to 45 minutes,” says Stuart. “Now, it’s a matter of minutes. Quality, accuracy and overall productivity have definitely improved since we installed the Polar 78 XS.”
