Aussie exhibitors at drupa : LithoTechnics

At drupa, LithoTechnics will launch Metrix, an automatic layout calculator for estimators, CSRs and production planners. Patent pending technology calculates the optimal layout for printing one or many products on a press sheet considering bleed, grain direction, and bindery requirements.

From the inventor of Creo’s UpFront, Metrix brings true automation to this segment of the industry. It features:
* completely automatic layout calculation
* optimum layouts which can save up to 30 per cent of stock
* makes planning complex ganging jobs simple
* offers JDF integration with MIS and prepress
* supports CIP3 PPF cutting and folding data

Based in New South Wales, LithoTechnics is headed up by Rohan Holt who spent a decade working in the printing industry prior to establishing Holt Software in 1995 to develop a software program called SuperImpose which aided printers in the creation of layouts.

In 1999, Holt sold his company to U.S. firm ScenicSoft, and SuperImpose was adapted and renamed UpFront.

After a stint with ScenicSoft in Seattle, Washington, Holt returned to Australia in 2002 to begin work on Metrix. ScenicSoft and UpFront were soon after acquired by Creo Inc.
