PPG chief executive, Australia, Warwick Whyte, says Impact is a very successful operation based in the suburb of Brunswick in North Melbourne.

“(Impact) is very profitable, and an excellent addition to our group,” says Whyte.

The company, which currently has about 60 staff and sales of around $18m, was established in the mid-70s by Garry, Ray and Greg Nankervis, who will remain with the business, and become shareholders in PPG.

Impact Printing’s financial controller, Bryan Edwards says the company was approached by PPG and spent a long time evaluating the offer and was happy with the way PPG does business.

“This deal secures the long term future for our business, our staff and our clients,” says Edwards. “There will be no changes within the business, which is one reason we went with Pacific Print Group. They have a good reputation for buying the best companies and leaving the staff, the management and the structure as it was.”

Impact operates with four Heidelberg 102 Speedmasters including the very latest fully automated eight colour with cut star, two five colours and a four colour (which perfects 2:2). The company also has Stahl folders, Muller saddlestitchers and perfect binder, and a very impressive prepress operation that includes CTP.

Impact specialises in producing publications but is also involved in a lot of other print product.
