Victoria-based printer that prints images onto metal, Print 2 Metal, recently invested in an Epson SureColor F7200 large format printer, setting itself up as a leader when it comes offering sublimation metal prints.
Its co-owner Marie Cosgrave told Sprinter that it purchased the Epson machine as its previous Mimaki printer malfunctioned and it needed two new heads replaced for it to work. The investment would have been significant, resulting in the business choosing to purchase a new printer instead.
“In January of this year, our previous Mimaki printer died and it needed two new heads. Comparing features, prices and knowing Epson machines’ ease of use – as we also have an Epson SureColor S80600 eco solvent printer – and generous warranty, the Epson SureColor F7200 was the standout choice for us,” she said.
The Epson SureColor F7200 is made for fast, economical short- to-medium volume dye-sublimation transfer printing, at speeds up to 58.9m2/hr and widths up to 64 inches.
Developed using the latest advancements in performance imaging, this system includes Epson’s exclusive PrecisionCore TFP print head, an integrated roll-to-roll media support system with high accuracy winding, and its latest dye-sublimation ink technology – Epson UltraChrome DS with High Density Black.
“We are now set up as a leader when it comes offering sublimation metal prints,” Cosgrave said.
The company also purchased a SEFA heat press last December that allows it to print on the full size ChromaLuxe metal sheets of 1200mm by 2400mm. A few months ago, it also purchased a Yeti Smartbench CNC router to cut custom shapes for the ChromaLuxe metal.
“Getting these machines required us taking more warehouse space due to everything being upsized.
We can now offer clients bigger prints and these machines have further expanded our capacity, resulting in Print 2 Metal being one of just a few offering this in Australia,” Cosgrave added.
