A husband and wife printing team from Canberra are offering printers around Australia the chance to holiday in peace as they take the reins and keep the presses running.

Phil and Jeanne Tarrant owned and operated ACT-based digital print shop Prinstant for five years, and in semi-retirement the veteran printers are eager to travel Australia and run printing businesses, while the owners take a much-needed break.

The Tarrants sold their business in January, and have 35-years of digital and offset printing experience under their belts, including an understanding of pre-press, accounts, client services, bindery and finishing work.

Phil Tarrant says he understands the struggle of wanting to travel when a business is dependent upon his constant presence, and wants to offer his service particularly to smaller shops where owners are key to daily operations.

“I know so many print businesses where they don’t want to have to shut down operations when they take a holiday or break,” says Tarrant.

“Printers want to keep their business open and not suffer financially while they are on holidays. You just can’t afford to shut off the presses a lot of the time.”

Tarrant says he and his wife are ready to start helping printers around Australia as soon as possible, and are keen to travel almost anywhere in the country.

“We would see it as a kind of working holiday. Of course it’s not all about the money, we are willing to strike a deal with a printer to work for them for X amount of days and we can work out the financials together,” he says.

“Keeping the business running would offset the costs, and it’s worth it for the peace of mind that your company is still alive and well while you take a break.”
