Printers swoop on Chippendale customers

Under the ‘exclusive agreement’ Blue Star will purchase Chippendale’s customer files, artwork and background information. Blue Star will offer customers a continuity of service from its range of capabilities including offset and digital printing, mail and fulfilment, design, paper engineering, print management and web offset printing.

Peter Allen, chairman of Taylor Woodings, the administrator of Chippendale, told Australian Printer, “It is a good outcome for customers as the agreement with Blue Star will offer them the option to get ongoing service without undue interruptions. It’s also a good outcome for Chippendale and Blue Star as it puts value on the goodwill of the Chippendale business and provides growth to Blue Star’s.”

The equipment and facility of Chippendale, which includes two manroland 12 colour long perfectors has received a lot of sale interest, according to Taylor Woodings who expect a series of sales for the assets to be completed over the next four to six weeks.

In a “very similar agreement”, Allen says Hannapak has purchased the relationship rights for Chippendale’s packaging customers.

He continues, “Hannapak is interested in what they can offer Chippendale customers with their full set of capabilities. It will obviously be up to the customers to make the final decision but I think as specialist packaging printer, Hannapak will meet all their needs.”
