Printers to sing the blues for charity

Rhythm and blues band Sound Benefit is set to perform its next charity gig tomorrow night in Annandale, raising money for the Sydney Breast Cancer foundation.

The group – which is made of three printers and five other band mates – includes industry identities Digitalpress owner Theo Pettaras on bass, his workmate Harley Economou on keyboard, and 30-year UPM Paper veteran Sean Bosco as lead singer.

Since Sound Benefit formed last year, the band has raised some $10,000 for charity, and this weekend all proceeds will go directly to the Sydney Breast Cancer foundation.

Theo Pattaras says the Breast Cancer charity is close to the print industry’s heart, and thanks to research it now has a 90 per cent survival rate.

“Well known paper specalist rep Edith Mailing was diagnosed late 2014 and is involved with the organisation. Another industry person affected by breast cancer a few years back was Spicers Paper Terry Bader both now in wonderful health and a testimony to the amazing work and importance of medical research,” says Pettaras.

The Sound Benefit gig will take place at 6:30pm, this Saturday November 12 at the Annandale Hotel on Parramatta Road, NSW.
