Private equity firms gang up for Informa bid

The Sunday Times reported that US financial giant Hellman & Friedman is the most recent addition to the consortium, reducing the possibility of a counter bid due to its enormous spending power.

Blackstone is also believed to be considering entering the consortium alongside Candover and Cinven, giving the group unassailable financial strength over other potential bidders.

UBM had been in talks over a possible merger but were unable to agree terms that would have led to a bid being tabled.

Informa is a publisher for the academic and scientific, professional and commercial business communities. The company has over 150 offices in more than 40 countries and employs 7,500 staff around the world.
