Roland DG had its new Pro II series of Soljet, Hi-Fi and Cammjet digital wide format inkjet printing systems on show. The company says its printers can reproduce some 97 per cent of Pantone colours, which is claims is way ahead of other systems, and is the reason its sales have climbed rapidly. Roland printers come as water based, for inside use, or solvent based for exterior use. They use hexachrome printing, which not only assists with the colour gamut, but according to the company, means a reduction in the amount of ink material used. Apart from signage markets are posters, display, proofing and increasingly fine art reproduction. The printer produces about a square metre every two and half minutes and are available in either 54″ or 74″ versions.
