As if running a printing business wasn’t enough of a superhuman effort, the managing director of Jeffries Printing Services also has an alter ego as the head of Black House Comics, a graphic novel publishing firm run out of his plant in the Sydney suburb of Revesby.
Why did you get into printing?
It was an accident of birth: my grandfather, father, uncle and brother were all printers.
Which superpower would you like?
A heightened power of persuasion. I know I am always right but I often find other people disagree.
What is your favourite TV show?
Doctor Who. Loved it as a kid and I am loving watching the new show with my own kids.
What is your greatest luxury in life?
I always said that when I had made it I would buy myself a Brian May Red Special replica guitar. I bought one this year and it is beautiful.
Who or what makes you laugh?
Press fetishists: sorry guys but it’s a business not a showroom.
Who would you like to be stuck on a desert island with?
I’d prefer the island from Lost. That would be more my style.
What really makes your blood boil?
Whining right wingers. Lighten up and have some faith in our country and our people.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A lawyer. Thank God I flunked my HSC: they lead miserable lives.
Which famous person do you resemble?
Several writers who work for me incorporate evil printers and publishers into their stories. I am starting to worry as they inevitably meet their doom in a gruesome fashion.
