Qld trio merge into Chameleon

Queensland print businesses, Sticker & Co, Digital Powerhouse and McTaggarts, have merged, creating the Chameleon Group, which they say is now a powerful force in the trade print industry and able to offer its customers a one-stop-shop service. Sticker & Co offers labels and stickers, letterhead, business cards, and signage; Digital Powerhouse has traditionally focused on print and design; and McTaggarts provides general print services including books, brochures and flyers, magazines as well as display, promotional and wide format printing.

Speaking with Australian Printer, Chris Krieger, general manager of Chameleon Group, says it made sense to bring the operations under one roof as the group focuses on growth and expanding its services. Krieger says, “We want to provide our customers with a one-stop-shop solution, which will include a wide range of services such as promos, signage, flexo, labels as well we all the other services that our customers are familiar with. “We are targeting the signage market and for that we have ordered a Seiko Colorpainter, brought in an HP latex press, as well as an Agfa flatbed, all of which will supplement the growing demand for our wide format and signage section of the business.” While company mergers can lead to redundancies and job losses, Krieger says the business expanded with the amalgamation, employing three more staff members to form a workforce of 40 employees. “We are also eyeing off some businesses in the north of Queensland to acquire as part of our growth strategy. “The Chameleon Group will double in size by the end of the year and we will do that both organically and through acquisitions.” The new group will now offer a wide range of high-speed trade printing in digital, labels – such as rolls, sheets and singles, vinyl, paper, hot foil – posters, and offset – which it prints with two Heidelberg GTO presses – as well as introducing printing on films. Chameleon will also focus on web design for its clients with branches in Bundaberg, where most of its production takes place, Hervey Bay and Sunshine Coast.
