Nearly 40 industry identities recently braved a soggy night in Brisbane to join the ASGA Board at The BOO in Brisbane for the annual ASGA Social Bowls event.
While play out on the green was impossible due to the rain, the weather did little to dampen the spirits of the crowd, who were more than happy to concentrate on networking with their industry friends and colleagues over drinks and nibbles at the city’s oldest and most prestigious Bowls Club.
Among the crowd was the entire ASGA Board who had gathered in Brisbane for a strategy planning day prior to the event.

ASGA President and Victorian Chair Mick Harrold flew up from Melbourne, while Marc Martello, public officer and NSW chair travelled from Sydney.
Lisa Michalanney, treasurer and SA chair flew in from Adelaide, while WA chair Wade French made the trek from Perth.
The gathering was hosted by Damian Nielsen, Queensland chair and ASGA member and events manager.
Damian said the social bowls event was the perfect way to cap off such an important session, underscoring the importance of supporting industry businesses.
“It has been fantastic for me over the past months to speak to many of our ASGA members and other industry colleagues about the challenges their businesses face, and what they want from ASGA as an association,” he said.
“The upside of the inclement weather was that it gave us all the opportunity to have more of those conversations and, of course, to make some new connections and catch up with industry friends in the fantastic environment of The BOO.”
