Published by Indigo Media, Real Weddings was awarded ‘Consumer Magazine of the Year’ at a gala ceremony this afternoon at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney.
Intermedia’s Professional Beauty won ‘B2B Magazine of the Year’, whilst Hardie Grant’s In the Black won ‘Best Customer Magazine’.
Haymarket Media, publisher of ProPrint, picked up several gongs as well, with Limelight winning the ‘Innovation in Distribution’ award, whilst football publication FourFourTwo won ‘Best Consumer Magazine Cover’ for its September 2008 issue, which featured alternate covers.
The Bell Awards recognise achievement and expertise in Australian publishing, with this year’s awards receiving 343 entries, up from 262 last year.
Executive Director Alan Sarkissian believes the high standard of these entries augurs well for the publishing industry.
“There has been a noticeable increase in interest-specific relevance and reader engagement across the board,” Sarkissian said. “And the overall level of quality continues to set new benchmarks for the magazine business as a whole.”
