RMIT invites industry to browse its libraries

The RMIT University campus at Brunswick in Melbourne is home to the International Centre of Graphic Technology (ICGT), the old Melbourne College of Printing and Graphic Arts. It is one of three Schools at Brunswick serviced by the campus Library.

There is a wealth of information that can be utilised by printers, vendors and associations to enable the printing industry to be more efficient and profitable. The Library contains thousands of new and historical books on printing plus over 40 relevant magazine subscriptions. The collection is continually updated – in the last 12 months over $20,000 has been spent on new books about printing. The collection also includes material on management, graphic design and the decorative arts. The Library makes this information available in an organised, easy to find location with well-trained staff to help in the search for relevant literature.

According to Guy Wilson, site librarian at Brunswick Campus, many people do not realise that this Library service, which also includes libraries at RMIT’s Bundoora and City campuses, is available to all members of the community for a small tax-deductible membership fee.

Membership rates for Individual access is $55 for three months, $110 for six months, or $214.50 for 12 months. Corporate access costs $165, $275 and $440 respectively.
Members of RMIT Alumni access, which include graduates and former staff, costs $55, $88, or $154 for three, six or 12 months access. Fee paying members are entitled to borrow up to eight items for 14 days from the general collection, borrow software that accompanies books, and read reference items and periodicals in the Library.

Fee paying members are not entitled to borrow reference items and periodicals, borrow audiovisual material, access the electronic resources collection, or place holds on items.
