Roland DG launches smartphone operated printers

Manufacturer of wide-format printers, Roland DG has launched two new eco solvent inkjet printer/cutters, the VG-640 and VG-540, under its new TrueVIS series. Roland DG says the printer/cutters have been designed with customer ease of use in mind. Both machines come with a built-in Roland DG Mobile Panel, which allows users to control the panel function from their existing smartphones or tablets with iOS or Android operating systems, via a Bluetooth connection. Roland DG says, “This innovative new feature provides a rich interface either directly on, or remotely in range of the VG, enabling operators to receive machine status updates as well as make adjustments and conduct test printing and cleaning functions from their mobile device.”

The VG-640 and VG-540 come with new added features including FlexFire print heads, which the company promises will deliver a flexible control of the metallic plate attached to the ink chamber, resulting in a higher firing frequency, and precision droplet placement in three sizes. The new printer/cutters use new Greenguard Gold certified TrueVIS Ink which come in 500ml pouches that can fit into reusable cartridges and slide into a hidden ink bay. Roland DG says this new feature will deliver clean operation with less waste. The printer/cutters also come with two ink colour configurations, seven-colour with black or eight-colour with white ink. Roland DG Australia sales director, Gino Farina, says the new TrueVIS series will offer print businesses a new level of reliability and economy. “The optimised printing technology enables the VG to produce vibrant colour with low ink consumption and minimal electricity in comparison with alternative ink technologies. This results in a total savings of tens of thousands of dollars over the life of the product,” Farina says. “Roland DG introduced eco-solvent wide-format printers and printer/cutters more than ten years ago, and they continue to be the number one choice for durable graphics worldwide. As a global leader, we recognised the need to continue moving the market forward which is why we developed the TrueVIS brand.” Farina says the VG-640 and VG-540 will be the ideal solution for print businesses producing indoor and outdoor advertising, vehicle graphics, banners, posters, labels and decals.
