“For the first time, DPI required all competing companies to print and submit the same test image,” says Patrick Chen, Roland DG product manager. “This made winning especially gratifying, as the judges could more easily see the subtle differences in colour gamut, colour gradations and colour simulation. These awards are real testament to the print quality of the new EX Series.”
Sponsored each year by the Digital Printing & Imaging Association, the DPI Product-of-the-Year competition honours digital imaging products that had a beneficial impact on the industry. The blind test image contained a number of challenging images and patterns to put the printers through their paces. Without knowing which company produced which entry, DPI judges selected winners based on colour, clarity and production speed.
Earlier this year, Roland Pro II printers also claimed first place in both wide format categories of the DIMA Digital Printer Shoot-Out. SolJetT Pro II EX Series wide format printers and printer/cutters use a built-in media heating system and advanced Eco-Sol Ink to print directly onto both uncoated and coated materials without harmful fumes or expensive ventilation systems. Signs and banners dry fast and last up to three years outdoors.
Like the rest of the Pro II Series, these heavy-duty inkjets can print up to 300sqft/hr at 450dpi for the production of signs, banners, POP displays and vehicle wraps; or they can print up to 1440x1440dpi with variable droplet technology for photorealistic clarity. Models include 54-, 64- and 74-inch printers and a 54-inch printer/cutter.
