Smartech Business Systems has been selected as Employer of Choice for the Australian Business Awards 2023.
The prestigious award recognises workplaces that maximise the full potential of their workforce, and demonstrate superior employee engagement, customer excellence and positive work culture.
“It is indeed a great privilege to be a company which has been formally recognised as one of the best employers in Australia. These moments are very rare and our employees have made this happen,” Smartech Business Systems CEO Vincent Nair said.
“In January of 2021, we introduced our three pillars of change, Transparency, Accountability and Inclusion. Moreover, for us, acquiring a significant business such as Quadient Oceania at the start of a global COVID Pandemic, coupled with a war in Europe and amidst significant rising global inflation were extremely challenging actions.
“We wanted to create a culture around the three pillars of Transparency, Accountability and Inclusion. Being transparent with employees with respect to strategic or operational discussions impacting them, holding ourselves accountable for the work we do and including all employees in discussions relating to matters that involve them so they would feel strongly that they are part of the company.
“We also introduced rapid communications programs to keep everyone informed of how we were performing in a period of global economic fragility to ensure visibility and certainty for everyone. Monthly town halls, fortnightly ‘all hands’ departmental meetings, team manager meetings, monthly ELT meetings, monthly business reviews, half year business reviews and enterprise sales kick off meetings were introduced in January 2021 to ensure all employees were kept informed of how the business was tracking. Some employees left voluntarily and some were gently touched on the shoulders. Those that remained were employees who showed talent, resilience, intelligence, strength and visibility during constant corporate unknowns and a global COVID pandemic.
