The company was bought in 1986 by Allan and Jenny Edmondson and now has 17 staff servicing a strong commercial and industrial customer base. Son Craig manages the Rockdale shop and daughter Karen manages the family’s Snap store in nearby Southerland.
Craig explains that the Edmondsons have always invested in the best available technology in order to provide the highest possible quality product for their customers. We knew Heidelberg were the only company that could offer us an end to end solution.
“The installation of the SM52-4 P SE and the Prosetter 52 is enabling us to provide a service to our customers beyond what they would usually expect. The new equipment also enables us to successfully bid for jobs that would otherwise be outside of our capabilities,” says Craig.
Craig says the biggest impact the new equipment has had on the store has been the marked improvements in productivity.
Productivity savings are made possible by the single cassette loader of the Prosetter 52 which enables up to 150 plates to be imaged non-stop under daylight conditions.
“We have reduced the time in prepress by a factor of six and we are able to push through three to four times the level of work previously printed while also drastically reducing the amount of overtime worked by the staff,” says Craig.
Further adding to their service Snap Printing Rockdale also installed a Hewlett-Packard (HP) Designjet 5500 large format printer which they have ‘fingerprinted’ to the SM52-4.
“The installation of the HP Designjet enables us to further improve our productivity by providing customers with a press-accurate colour proof produced in-house without the usual delays experienced when having to outsource.”
