Spicers achieves FSC Certification

The company has achieved a Chain of Custody (CoC) Certification with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). FSC Certification is recognised as a global standard in forest management practices and the Chain of Custody component ensures that the final product can be traced back to a certified source.

National marketing manager, Rohan Dean, says the certification covers all 10 Spicers sites, including Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Wodonga, Townsville and Darwin.

“Spicers Paper’s network of distribution centres will now be able to provide high quality FSC certified papers to the commercial print and end user markets,” explains Dean.

“The FSC Chain of Custody Certificate reflects Spicers Paper’s commitment to stewardship for sustainable business as a leading distributor in the paper merchanting business.”

One of the first products launched by Spicers Paper that comes with the full FSC Chain of Custody Certification is 9lives 80. This grade arrives under the FSC mixed source label which consists of 80 per cent recycled fibre and 20 per cent totally chlorine free pulp. The manufacturing mill also has the environmental 1SO 14001 certification. 9lives 80 is a A2 coated paper available in gloss and silk ranging from 115gsm to 350gsm.

The mission of the FSC is to promote environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world’s forests. With the use of the FSC Chain of Custody labeling program, consumers will be able to recognise genuine certified paper products that are being distributed by genuine certified members of the FSC.
