St Laurence’s college contracts Océ for print requirements

Under the terms of the contract Océ has assumed control of the school’s print room and a number of multi-function devices used by teachers throughout the school.

Paul Rigall, business manager of St. Laurence’s College says the school has been undergoing an extensive expansion plan for some years and saw the transfer of print services into professional hands as a logical consequence of this. Prior to this, the print services had been assigned to a staff member with little outside print experience.

He says, “The College’s core function is providing educational services and, while there is a strong need for print services to support this function, we felt these could best be provided by printing professionals.”

Rigall adds that, because the school is now printing more jobs in house, they are printed more quickly too, with the result that around 90 per cent of the school’s printed work is completed on a same day basis, increasing the confidence of the teachers.

The print room is equipped with an Océ VarioPrint 2100 and a Canon 5051 colour printer has recently been added, providing colour for the first time and bringing within the premises colour work which was previously going outside. Paul Rigall is now adding such items as the school calendar, business cards and the school prospectus to the print room’s job list.

The print room uses Océ PRISMAprepare for its prepress work and will soon install Océ PRIMAaccess, to enable teachers to order printing from their desktops and formalise the way printing is ordered.
