Tassie apprentice and leadership awards open

Tassie printers can nominate their brightest young talent for two awards to recognise future champions of the industry.

Rising stars destined for leadership roles can be nominated for the Media Super Young Executive of the Year and top apprentices for Apprentice of the Year.

Apprentices must have completed their third or fourth year apprenticeship or an accelerated apprenticeship (three years or less) during 2014.

The PIAA says those nominated for either award should display exemplary promise as future champions of the print, packaging, communication and information sectors.

Chief executive Bill Healey says the awards recognised the high levels of talent and commitment to the industry and aimed to encourage and nurture this further.

“The awards demonstrate that, as an industry, we are serious about promoting achievement and excellence to help develop the industry champions of tomorrow,” he says.

The winners will be announced at the Diemen Awards on October 24 in Hobart and will represent Tasmania at the national Young Executive Award to be held in Melbourne in May 2016 during the National Print Awards.

They will receive an all-expense paid trip to the 2016 National Print Awards for the judging and presentation dinner.

The national Media Super Young Executive Award winner will get a trophy and a $2000 contribution toward their superannuation account.

Applications are open now through the Tasmanian PIAA office or the association’s website.
