Tell us about your business
Daroji Print Finishing is a well-respected print finishing company based in Brisbane. We have provided printers, graphic designers and advertising agencies with specialty UV finishes, loose-leaf binding and celloglazing services for 23 years. Many of our well-qualified staff have been with us for 10, 15 years or more, which has given us the ability to provide a quality and reliable service over a long period of time. This latest move reflects a response to the growing demands of our customers in the digital print area.
What have you bought?
Daroji Print Finishing now has a new division called Daroji Digital Finishing. This is to service the rapid growth in digital printing, and is to provide economical and fast turnaround on digital and short-run jobs. As part of this new division, we have purchased a Thermotype TS2L to offer trimming, scoring, perfing, round cornering and diecutting to add to our other shortrun services.
Why did you choose this machine?
No other machine in the market has the complete capabilities of the TS2L. Some machines can do several of the services it can do, but not all, and not in one pass. Other machines were considered, but this one best suited the quality and capabilities required by Daroji Digital Finishing.
What features do you like most?
Its accuracy. The machine is impressive with the two tooling stations plus inline trimming, scoring and slitting. This allows jobs that would normally be done in a couple of different machines to be completed with one, the TS2L. It is all done in one pass and once the machine is running the accuracy and repeatability is excellent. We also like its productivity. Because the machine allows for multiple operations to be completed in one pass it mostly gives a completely finished product directly from a printed sheet.
How reliable is it and how easy is it to use?
We have a qualified printer as our lead operator. He is very much a hands-on person with good mechanical skills. This is not a prerequisite for operating the TS2L, but it really helps having those types of operators.
How was the installation process?
This was the first machine in Australia. Tom and Michael at Graph-Pak were very helpful during the installation, and resolved any problems we might have had when it was installed.
Would you consider buying another one of these machines?
Yes, most certainly. The Zip TSL-2 is a great machine. They take a little getting used to, but we’re more than happy with it.
The Thermotype TS2L offers a versatility and production capability like no other. My belief is this unique piece of gear will offer the end user an extremely fast return on investment, which is so important these days. It is particularly popular because of its fast makereadies and low production waste to set up. We will be exhibiting this machine at PacPrint, with chief executive Chris Van Pelt visiting for additional support, demos and technical education for the customer.
