Treble joy for Xeikon

The new Xeikon 800 is the flagship, producing 230 pages a minute at 1200dpi, which at 4 bits a pixel is equivalent to 1200x3600dpi. Xekikon claims it is twice as fast as its nearest competitor. It applications are in commercial print, direct mail, books, and especially transactional and transpromo printing.

Also new is the Xeikon 6000, which again comes in 1200dpi 4 bit pixels, and produces 160 pages a minute, giving it a monthly duty cycle of up to five million pages a minute. One of its primary applications will be in the exploding photobooks market.

Finally Xeikon launched its new 3300 label press, which it claims is the fastest digital label printer available. It prinbts a web width of 192mm, with 1200dpi at 4 bit a pixel. Available as a five colour system, the fifth unit is for spot varnish, opaques or security inks. It is a full rotary system that does not use a stop start frame, so there is an unlimited page length.
